- This Technical Manager demonstrates leadership in the definition and development of new products and systems at AVIAGE SYSTEMS. In this role you will be responsible for building and subsequently leading a cross-functional, US based team to plan and execute the development of a high integrity processing platform for use in critical applications. You will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute project plans in order to successfully execute the development and certification of a new product offering. You will work closely with your engineering counterparts at our Shanghai location to capture and clarify customer driven product performance requirements. You will achieve success through a combination of leadership and management of a local team of direct reports and from your own individual contribution.
- Lead the execution of design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirementsEnsure the formulation and implementation of plans to achieve technical performance, schedule and budget commitmentsDevelop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems and mitigate risksProvide active technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to direct reports and other personnel assigned to projects where you have cognizanceInitiate, lead or participate on teams’ assignment to address organizational initiatives and generic issuesMonitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developmentsDevelop technical capabilities of self and others in line with business needsEnsure appropriate assignment of tasking and areas of technical responsibility in order to meet project cost, schedule and develop assigned directly reporting staffSpend on average 70% as an engineer directly contributing to projects executed by cognizant team. The remaining time to be spent performing administrative management duties for all direct reporting staff and support non-directly reporting staff, including employee performance management & employee approvals
- Bachelor's degree in EngineeringAt least 10 years of engineering experience in aerospace product development and certificationDemonstrated history in building and leading teams
- Master's degree in Engineering or related fieldWorking knowledge of contemporary processing and network architectures, technologies and components utilized in high integrity, vehicular applicationsStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsAbility to understand and implement customer requirements in compliance with industry and regulatory standardsWorking knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and specific experience in obtaining FAA FAA approval of a complex airborne product Strong technical aptitude in relation to product development and complex systems.Ability to influence others, create cohesive groups and lead teamsProject management and team organization experienceProject scheduling experienceSpecific experience of leading and managing teams in terms of their technical direction, progress of assigned work areas and overall performance management
